[Vimperator] ~/.vimperator always created despite runtimepath

Hi, I'm having a problem with Vimperator 3.4: It always creates the
~/.vimperator directory despite the 1st command in ~/.vimperatorrc
being:

:set runtimepath=~/etc/vimperator

(also tried replacing the tilde with the full path). Is there a way to
avoid this?

You might be lucky in using the $VIMPERATOR_INIT environment variable for
this.
Or generally, read :help starting
